Returns & Exchanges

HotSpot Electronics aims to resolve product issues fairly and in accordance with New Zealand consumer law.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If a product is faulty, damaged, materially different from its description or otherwise fails to meet applicable consumer guarantees, contact us so we can assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, the remedy may include:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Exchange
  • Refund

The Consumer Guarantees Act provides minimum guarantees for products supplied by businesses in New Zealand and may give consumers rights to a repair, replacement or refund when those guarantees are not met.

How to Request a Return

Before returning an item, contact us at:

Phone: 021 791 786
Email: Hotspotelectronic@gmail.com

Please provide:

  • Your name
  • Order number or proof of purchase
  • Product name
  • Description of the issue
  • Photos or video where useful

We may provide return instructions after reviewing your request.

Change of Mind

New Zealand consumer law does not automatically require a retailer to provide a refund when a customer simply changes their mind.

HotSpot Electronics may consider change-of-mind returns at its discretion.

Any approved change-of-mind return must normally be:

  • Approved by us before being sent back
  • In unused and resalable condition
  • Complete with packaging and supplied accessories
  • Free from damage caused after purchase

Opened or used hygiene-sensitive products such as in-ear earphones may not be accepted for discretionary change-of-mind returns.

This does not affect rights relating to faulty products.

Pre-Owned Products

Pre-owned products may show cosmetic wear consistent with their advertised condition.

A condition or cosmetic characteristic clearly disclosed before purchase will not itself constitute a fault simply because the product is pre-owned.

However, statutory consumer guarantees may still apply to pre-owned goods, taking into account matters such as the product description, age, price and condition.

Returning Electronic Devices

Before returning a phone, tablet, laptop or other device, customers should, where possible:

  • Back up personal information
  • Remove personal accounts
  • Disable activation locks such as Find My
  • Remove SIM and memory cards
  • Remove passcodes

HotSpot Electronics is not responsible for personal data left on returned devices except to the extent required by law.

Return Shipping Costs

For an approved change-of-mind return, the customer may be responsible for return shipping.

Where goods are faulty and the customer has a valid claim, reasonable return costs may be recoverable in accordance with applicable consumer law.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will generally be made to the original payment method wherever reasonably possible.

The time for a refunded amount to appear may depend on the customer's bank or payment provider.

What This Policy Does Not Cover

A remedy may not be available where a problem was caused by:

  • Accidental or deliberate damage after purchase
  • Misuse
  • Unauthorised modification
  • Failure to follow reasonable usage instructions
  • A fault or condition clearly disclosed and accepted before purchase

These exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by New Zealand law.
